Chewing gum which contains xylitol can help to loosen and relieve pressure in the ear while at the same time releasing xylitol into the mouth and throat and preventing bacteria to move up to the nasal passages and into the ear. According to the recent research it have proved that the use of xylitol-rich gum reduces the risk of ear infection.
